Summer is a time of joy and light. It’s a time to soak up the warm rays of sunshine and embrace the long hours of beautiful light from dawn to dusk.

It’s a time to be outside, bask in the warmth and absorb the sights and sounds as we rejoice with nature in full bloom.

It’s a time to celebrate ourselves, how far we have come spiritually and mentally, and to simply be. To enjoy the abundance of mother-nature and spend time with family and friends, to sing, to laugh, to dance.

The heart meridian ‘the one’ is the grand master of the meridians.

The heart is in constant communication with the organs and muscles to regulate oxygen levels within the blood and generates 5,000 times more powerful electrical messages throughout the cells than the brain.

When the heart meridian is in balance we are radiant, others can see the sparkle and true light of our spirit and we literally light up our path. We feel in control, we are exuberant, balanced and at peace.

When the fire within us is burning brightly we feel joy, secure and confident. We are at one with all beings and can express love and compassion for ourselves and all others.

When our heart meridian is blocked or over-energised, we can feel anger, insecure and lacking in self-esteem.

Self-help

When you feel rage and hot and bothered, tame the fire within:

Ground yourself in nature.

The earth has a negative charge and will help to defuse any anger or irritability. Walk barefoot on the grass, on the beach, or put your hands against the trunk of a tree and feel this hot energy defuse.

Stretch for the fire element.

Sit on the floor with your back straight. Bring your feet close to your body with the soles together and your fingers interlaced over your toes, with your thighs outstretched. Take a few breaths inhaling and exhaling deeply, then on the next exhale bend forward slightly towards your feet with your back straight. Take three deep breaths in this position. Repeat this exercise several times until you feel your body relax and any agitated energy dissipate.

When you are feeling insecure and lacking in confidence grow the spark within you:

Be kind to yourself.

Love yourself; treat yourself as you would love to be treated by others. Buy yourself flowers, find the radiance and exquisite beauty that you find in nature within you and treat yourself with compassion.

It is not until we truly love ourselves that we can express this pure unconditional love and compassion to others.

With blessings and light, Namaste.

One of the natural healing disciplines within which Kinesiology is rooted, is Chinese medicine. Within Kinesiology we work with the meridians - a delicate and intricate web of interconnecting energy lines carrying life force energy and which influence every organ and physiological system in the body. And the five element theory, which explains transformation and change within nature and the body through the characteristics of five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

There are four meridians within the fire element, which when in balance and the energy is freely flowing within us; allow us to be in a state of pure joy. This state of being can be likened to the summer months.
